Now this shadow box may just look like a harmless glance into the strange world of the Mushroom Kingdom... but this is actually a picture of the biggest mass murderer in the history of video games. This silly looking Goomba is responsible for an untold number of player deaths over the past 30 years.
I can't imagine someone sitting in a conference room, pitching the protagonist of the most important game on the NES as a plumber from Brooklyn who can travel through pipes, and everyone just deciding to go with it. It's a wonderful example of the type of creativity that video games encourage.
This glass-framed shadow box measures 10x12.5 inches and the viewport matches the 4:3 aspect ratio of the original scene. All of the images are printed on high-quality matte cardstock and laser cut for precision. The sprites are layered and raised to create a three-dimensional image that brings the scene to life. Pictures do not do it justice!
